Staying in is the new going out

It's the works `winter party` this evening.  All day, talk has been of dresses and heels and tans and nails. There's a three course dinner, an awards ceremony (yawwwn) hosted by former Olympian Roger Black and a free bar at the venue.

I've got an appointment with the soaps, a hair dye for some very needy roots, a Lush bath bomb and, if I'm very good, an alpen bar and a low cal hot choccie before curling up in bed with my Kindle. I am positively oozing rock and roll from my every pore.

Cons:
1. I'm foregoing all of the above freebies (by choice, and no, I'm far from being the only one!
2. Erm nope can't think of anything else really

Pro's:

1. I haven't had to spend any cash on a frock I shall never wear again;
2. I won't have a hangover which will write off half the weekend (I can't cope with hangovers any more!),
3. I won't blow my diet,
4. I haven't had to spend all night feeling self conscious and like a spare dick at a wedding.

Right decision for me for now methinks.

HAPPY Friday!!

  1. I'm so glad you wrote this. All the babies on my course were discussing going clubbing for their 21sts this weekend and I just thought Noooooooo, followed by- I must be getting old, followed by- am I bothered? Followed by- no. Your night in sounds just peachy. I've been sewing tonight by the fire, which makes me sound truly ancient but I've loved every minute :o) Happy Days, eh xx

  2. I don't mind a party as long as I can wear jeans. I hate posh parties, the whole posh frocks thing does nothing for me :)

  4. I missed my works Christmas do. We were supposed to dress up as cowboys, I hate dressing up and although I will happily drink too much with friends, I will not with work colleagues. I was told the do was mandatory, I told them where to go!!! X

    1. Oh gawd that's even worse! And mandatory? In your own time? I think I'd have said something very similar - and involving plentiful use of the letter f!!

  5. The idea of that kind of night out sends me in to a panic. A night in with a good film, some crotchet and a glass of wine works for me. :-)
