I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose....

I'll tell you how the sun rose
A ribbon at a time

The steeples swam in amethyst,

The news like squirrels, ran

The hills untied their bonnets
The bobolinks begun

Then I said softly to myself

That must have been the sun.

But how he set, I know not.
There seemed a purple stile.
Which little yellow boys and girls
Were climbing all the while

Till when they reached the other side,
A dominie in gray
Put gently up the evening bars,
And led the flock away.

Emily Dickinson

My alarm goes off each  morning at 6am.  This morning, after the obligatory groan, feeling around on the bedside table for my trusty Blackberry, knocking over my jewellery stand in the process and negotiating the turny offy button, whilst attempting to prise open my protesting eyelids, I decided that 6.00am was obscenely early to be contemplating the beginning of my day.  It wouldn't be - it's just that getting up twixt Monday - Friday usually heralds the fact that I'm only a couple of hours away from being stapled to my desk .  So this morning I grumped and muttered, re-set my clock for 7.00am, threw my arm over my eyes and feigned sleep.

I was comfortable for approximately 3 minutes and 22 seconds before my bladder began to complain vehemently and, with an unneccessarily dramatic throwing back of the duvet, I stomped into the bathroom.

The bathroom appeared to have changed colour from it's usual monochrome black and white.  It was bathed in a beautiful soft pink light.  Stumbling back in to the bedroom I peeked through the curtains to investigate.  It was around  6.10 am by this time.  The sight which prevailed almost took my breath away.  The most beautiful sunrise was taking place over my beloved field, and I had very nearly missed it! I stood quietly, with the windows flung wide open, just watching as the sky was washed with an arc of colour.   My camera can not do justice to the hues in which Mother Nature bedecked herself this morning.  She's such a show off!

Bargainous News

Two little fledgling blackcurrant bushes from the Ye Olde Pounde Shoppe - alreadly showing some healthy growth.  How could I resist?

Whilst intrepidly searching for yellow knock down ticketed items in the big green supermarket of monstrous proportions, I found this:
Two 250g packs of Lurpak butter plus a loaf tin for the very modest sum of £2.00!
Not sure how long the promo is on for but I think it's a decently little bargain to be had.

Sigh.

See you soon xxxx

  2. Gorgeous, gorgeous photos and poem to go with them! I can totally relate to the bladder not being on board with extra snooze time, but hey, at least you got some kind of bonus-lol!
Hope you have a good rest of the week too!
