Day 29. Bad mommy example #472

My name is Kim and I'm a shoeaholic. I love em! Being a sturdy bird has never put me off wearing a pair of heels although these days they're more 'low rise maisonnette' than sky scraper.

Except for these beauties.  I paid a fiver for them in a charrie shop and they still had the labels on the bottom.  I stroke them occasionally to make sure they're ok and not feeling neglected.

Strangely enough my daughter loves them too and nags me on a weekly basis to borrow them. Bad mommy refuses because they are her preciouses.

Daughter has purchased a rather natty black cat suit to go out in on Friday. She came into my room to seek my opinion. Her eyes swivelled covetously towards my shoes.   "No" I stated without looking up from my book.  "But mom" she said slipping one foot surreptitiously into a shoe "look how good they look!"  She had managed to slip the other one on too. "No!"  I asserted again, refusing to look and bristling slightly that she had dared to put them on

She whined. She cajoled. She wheedled. She played the "but if you loved me " card. I remained strong.

"But I'll look after them. I won't let anyone near them" she continued fluttering her lashes and widening her eyes in a puppy like manner.

I put my book down and regarded my darling daughter steadily before advising her that if I lent them to her it wouldn't feel right when I wanted to wear them in bed again.

She gaped open mouthed for a second before screeching "mother you did not just say that to me". She clapped her hands over her ears.  "You mean they're your sex shoes?"  "Ewwwwwwwww!!" She may have turned a nice shade of puce.

I smiled innocently, raised an eyebrow.  and bid her a good night.

I wonder whether she'll ask me again?

Bad mommy signing off.

Day 28

Hello there!  Yet another sunshiney rainy day today here in the Midlands turning from hot balmy sunshine to thundery torrential rain without warning and sometimes we got both at the same time!

I treated my bestie to dinner this evening in lieu of a birthday present. We sat in a lovely spot, snug in a cosy corner bathed in sunlight whilst we chatted and ate far too much.

Later we took our after dinner coffees outside and sat by the canal until the sun sank to the back of the building and it became a little too chilly to stay any longer.

It was light very late this evening and still quite light at ten of the clock!   It seems strange to think we only have a couple of weeks to midsummer when the daylight will begin to shorten again.

I do hope we get at least a bit of summer.  I have trays of bedding plants to plant and the rain is stopping play!

Happy Tuesday!

Day 27. A sad day indeed

The end of an era. Not everyone's cup of tea I know but he was a huge part of my childhood. My schoolmates and I used to quote The Young Ones at every given opportunity.  Such a shame.

Day 26 Blogging in coffee shops

Getting ice cream headaches from drinking ice cold frappes in coffee shops on a Sunday afternoon with my two fave fellas.

It ain't a bad old life really.

Happy Sunday to you and yours.

Day 25 - A Cloud-full day

Can you see the very faint hint of a rainbow?
 'Cause every time it rains
You're here in my head
Like the sun coming out
Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen
And I don't know when
But just saying it could even make it happen .....
Cloudbusting - Kate Bush

It's been such a mad weather day today.  Glorious sunshine at 6am, dark, threatening clouds by 6.30.  Unnecessarily dramatic thunder and sheet lightning by 7am, Incessant rain for most of the morning and then by 3pm, strong, hot sunshine.  And lots and lots of clouds.

Mmmm Clouds....

I've been sky gazing all afternoon.

"Sunshine on a rainy day... makes my soul, makes my soul, trip, trip away. ..."

Day 24 - oops a tad late

Hello all

Drat. Missed a day of my challenge!

I've been trawling the internet all night to try to find a decent but cheap little holiday.  We just want four days on the coast in the UK which can be easily accessed by rail for early August.  Cheapness is the major factor. I thought I'd found the perfect one and began the booking process to pay the deposit only to find they wanted the full amount by Monday.

Needle in a haystack comes to mind.

And daylight robbery.

Sigh.

I shall keep trying however in the meantime if any of you lovely people have any suggestions or recommendations for budget bucket and spade hols I'd be very grateful to hear of them!

See you soon!

Day 23 - It's been a little 'Otter today!

Tee hee

Just my little jokette!

More animal pics from Cotswold Wildlife Park

Otters this time! Natch!

I love otters. Could watch them for hours. There were about six in this enclosure and they had loads of room to play- and play they did! They were gamboling around with each other, playing with pebbles and diving under the running water.  The sun made their furry little bodies glisten in the sunlight.  They were so bloomin' quick though they were really hard to photograph and the majority of my pictures have half an inch of tail exiting stage right on them and nothing more!

This batch was the best of a bad lot really.

This little beauty was trying to get a pebble from beneath that rock for ages!

Such sweet little faces!

The photograph below makes me laugh though!    They look like they're having a major domestic don't they?!  Look at that henpecked look! She's giving him a shove and he's saying "Alright luv, don't get your knickers in a twist. Sheesh!"

Day 21. Frustrating friendships

Recently I've found myself becoming frustrated with people to whom I continually offer olive branches being gung ho and uber pally one minute and then seemingly indifferent the next. I will never understand this and so I'm at a stage where I think I shall just stop trying to do so.   They know where I am and I would never reject their contact. I know life gets in the way sometimes but I can't understand why people can't be consistent in their attitude. I find it confusing and upsetting.

Time to put my big girl pants on and move on methinks.

Day 20 Bed.

It's been a very long day topped off with a very busy shift at Samaritans.  So for now, it's toast, tea and a small choccie bar that's making me happy!

Night All!!!

Day 19 - reasons to be cheerful

I had a great morning out with LM spending some hard earned cash as a treat. Purchases included:-

Four beautiful fuschia plants which had been reduced in Home Bargains to £1.49 each. They're really healthy little plants so hopefully they will bring a much needed splash of colour to the garden.

A break for breakfast in a coffee shop where we watched the world go by and counted our blessings.

A bag full of new crafty stash for me. Cos I need it. Oh yes I do!

Some pretty new solar lights to illuminate the pots. We do like our solar lights!

We've had a fab weekend which always makes up for the long old working week.

The department move into new premises next weekend and this week will be a blur of packing up and shipping out. If I break any nails I shall not be cheerful at all!

Hope you're all cheery chappies too!

P.S. Thanks for your comments about the blood tests yesterday. They're testing KTT for glandular fever and also for allergies in light of the urticaria episode he had recently.  Hopefully the results should be in this week.

P.P.S. LM just came downstairs after his bath complaining that he must have had the bath a bit too hot as his back was stinging.

Erm.

Forgot that you cut the hedge with no shirt on this afternoon didn't you luv?!

Gah!!

Working from home

I've taken a precious day of annual leave today.  I've really struggled this week with feeling so yuk and I needed the restorative ...
